The threat of oil resources shortage increases the demand for renewable energy sources. A complete or partial jump to quality fuel wood production can help the small scale and middle scale forest owners raise their economic self-sufficiency, saturate the demand for bio-fuels and strengthen the role of forestry in the Czech state economy. The coppice forest and coppice with standards forest represents an alternative of management which can contribute to the above mentioned goals. The project deals with an optimization of the establishment, silviculture, forest management and economics of coppice (with standards) forest. The authors presume to carry out a wide complex analysis of historic and current papers on coppice (with standards) forest management, to establish a set of model objects inclusive of long term experimental plots. The main goal of the project is to provide the forest owners, forest managers and forest administration workers with an effective information tool for managing, optimization and control of the coppice (with standards) forest.
